Day 1 - later that evening...KARAOKE!!!
After Shaina and I were able to catch up, I took a much needed hot shower, figuring out the knobs and turning on the shower faucets in foreign places is always a challenge and fun experience. The shower was fabulous and the toilets here with their deluxe menu and array of warm toilet seat and yes...spray options for your bum was a fun experience as well. Oh, Japan I already love thee! After relaxing for a New York minute, Shaina and I were off to meet her classmates who were already in full force at a kareoke bar up the street, here in Akasaka. We joined the rest of the crew in this crazy place that had private rooms that you rent and where you can press a button and have food and drinks brought to your private kareoke room. The music catalogue was insanely huge. Next door to us, I looked into the window and there were two businessmen rocking out. It was the funniest thing I had witnessed and when the gentleman saw me he popped out of the room to say, Konnichiwa and shake my hand. I now wish I took a picture of them in action. I love the idea of how popular kareoke is here, how you can have a stressful day and just head out to a kareoke bar with your friends and colleagues and channel your inner rockstar. It is a magical and beautiful thing. After the kareoke bar, we went to another bar... an Irish pub and from there it was lights out for me : )
