Day 2 - Saturday - Roppongi Hills
After visiting General Nogi's Residence, I continued on to Roppongi Hills. I did make a few side stops along the way as I tried on a really sweet dress at a boutique and was able to practice some of my Japanese with the storekeeper. There is such a vast array of restaurants and I want to eat at every single one of them. I think that is a challenge that both Shaina and I, given the opportunity and a pair of expandable waistlined pants we could, would and will eat our way through Japan.
In a very general sense Akasaka (where our hotel is located) and Roppongi can be compartmentalized into 2 distinct districts: business and pleasure. In Akasaka and nearby Nagatacho, business folk and government suits toil away in service to big machines and political matters. But just down the road in Roppongi, the business has historically been leisure. Roppongi Hills is a daytime destination as well as the place to pull an all-nighter. I walked through Roppongi Hills inside where there are food halls and one restaurant after another. I had a dish that was comprised of eggs, rice, eel, and a potato spread with an edible sweet mint leaf. I sat outside with my lunch and watched children play and people watched...people watching here is without a doubt one of my favorite things to do here.
