Day 1 - My Arrival!

I cannot even put into words how amazing and wonderous Tokyo is...but I will try. I feel as though I have lived here in another life. Tokyo is an explosion of culture and tradition and architecture that I have always been fascinated by and the Japanese have not let me down one bit since arriving.

I arrived on Friday after 15 hours of a pretty painless flight. I sat next to a girl named Sarah, who is from Baltimore and works for a company, hired by the US Navy to travel the world to study better pharmaceutical practices. She was on her way to the outskirts of Tokyo and then to Guam. On the other side of me sat two young girls from Virgina who were headed to Tokyo and then later visiting their family in Hong Kong. The flight playing a bunch of movies on a loop, which included, "The Bucket List" (which is not one of my all time favorite movies), "Under The Same Moon", "The Other Boleyn Girl", "Definitely Maybe", and of course "Hannah Montana" for good measure and Shaina's favorite show. : p

Once arriving at Tokyo Narita Airport, checking in at customs was fast and friendly. I took the limobus, which was completely easy to find. The limobus then whisked my away to Akasaka, about a 45 minute ride to the center of the city. I arrived at the Asia Center Hotel to find the smiling face, of the one and only Miss. Shaina Stahl. Shaina, is here in Tokyo for the month studying Patent Law. Once in our hotel room, I was greeted with a lovely bunch of lovely little welcome gifts. Shaina immediately made me feel at home. : ) Gifts included a card with my name written in Kanji characters, pink grapefruit gum, POCKY candy, and a kimono!
